On Tuesday, May 15, R&B superstar Monica paid a visit to Jungle Island with her family. She took the park’s famed VIP Safari Tour along her husband, Shannon Brown, her children and family. Both she and Shannon tweeted photos of the experience on the tour and had a great time. Jungle Island is proud to welcome two new additions to the jungle family, a pair of Canadian lynx. The cute cats have made their new home right in the center of the park alongside the other new kids on the block, the leopards.

The Canadian Lynx (Lynx Canadensis) historically ranges from Alaska across Canada and into many of the northern U.S. states. It stands about 20 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs about 25-30 pounds—scarcely more than a large house cat. It is readily recognized by its long, black ear tufts; short, black-tipped tail; and large, rounded feet with furry pads.

The new lynx join the jungle’s already diverse animal family which includes some of the world’s most incredible animals including a set of orangutan twins, a liger and a cassowary.
